Climate

Climate is a key driver and determinant of ecosystem characteristics and functions.  Climate drives the diversity, assembly, and productivity of plant communities, and this in turn influences the wildlife that relies on these resources.  Regional and landscape scale processes, such as fire, air quality, and snow chemistry, are also strongly affected by climate.  Understanding changes in climate is essential to understanding the dynamics of other vital signs and natural resources within the parks.
